The rooftop of the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C. became the edge of the Pacific for one night.

The Challenge

Building an Event Around “The Edge”

Raft set out to host a military panel discussion, The People & Partners of the Pacific, at the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., welcoming approximately 250 attendees for an evening focused on technology modernization, people, and partnerships.

The evening combined networking and cocktails with a keynote speaker and panel discussion as the main program. Raft, a leading military defense technology company, needed a partner to manage the event production details and translate the “On the Edge” concept into a cohesive physical environment.

Inspired by the realities of operating across the Pacific, the creative direction called for an atmosphere influenced by the surrounding landscape in the Indo-Pacific without losing the polished feel expected of a high-level industry event.

Highlights

The event experience was designed around multiple ways for guests to engage throughout the evening. An intimate panel environment created a focused setting for the program, while the rooftop provided space for networking, hospitality, and conversation.

Key Elements Included:

  • A custom event environment for 250 guests
  • A dedicated stage and seating area for the keynote and panel discussion
  • Tropical greenery, palms, trees, florals, and natural wood textures inspired by the Pacific
  • A rooftop cocktail and networking environment
  • Space planning, staging, furnishings, signage, and scenic design coordinated across the venue

The Solution

Designing an Immersive Experience

Elevation3D approached the project as a complete event environment rather than a collection of individual production elements.

The team worked with Raft to translate the event theme into a physical experience, considering how guests would arrive, gather, watch the program, network, and move throughout the venue. The result balanced the rugged, natural inspiration behind “On the Edge” with an elevated setting appropriate for military, technology, and industry leaders.

An Intimate Stage Environment

The panel area was designed to feel conversational rather than overly formal. Individual lounge chairs created an intimate setting for speakers, while branded signage and thoughtful staging gave the program a clear focal point. The layout helped bring the audience closer to the discussion and created a setting that felt more like a conversation among leaders than a traditional conference presentation.

Bringing the Pacific into the Space

Tropical greenery, palms, trees, foliage, florals, and natural wood textures carried the event theme throughout the environment. These elements were layered in the space to create a setting inspired by the landscapes of the Pacific. The approach helped give the event its own identity while still allowing the venue and rooftop views to remain part of the experience.

Managing the Production Details

Elevation3D coordinated the many physical elements required to turn the concept into a working event environment, including space planning, staging, furnishings, graphics, scenic elements, installation, and on-site support.

With one partner overseeing the environment, Raft could focus on the speakers and guests, while Elevation3D managed the pieces that brought the event to life.
